For her part, Alice Konitz invited several of us Art Center MFA candidates (Andy Featherston, Steven Gavenas, Rebecca Norton, Amy Sharp, Emily Steinfeld, and myself) to participate in The Blackwelder Show--a one-day, one-location, multi-site group show curated by Chris Lipomi and Mieke Marple. Our objective was to create a model that would propose an imagined use for the space within which the model was set. My proposal--"Bird's Eye"--adopted the neighboring Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook as its imagined site. Taking advantage of its central location and spectacular views, the public building proposed would allow for spatial contemplation within an envelope of aural sensation.
